Our story

Family sitting on a blanket in a park, smiling, with a big furry animal behind the fence in the background.

Built with our hands, our hearts, and on the land we love.

Three years ago, this land was little more than row crops and old growth trees. We saw potential in its quiet beauty and began the slow process of transforming it into something meaningful.

What started as a vision for a Highland cattle farm grew alongside the creation of The Lumen House next door - a modern event venue rooted in the same values of care, craftsmanship, and intention.

As the land evolved, so did our connection to the cattle.

A young girl with blonde curly hair in a white sweater and brown skirt touching a buffalo through a metal fence in a farm setting.
Family of three children and two adults at a farm petting area with Highland cattle behind a wire fence in a wooded area during daytime.
A young girl with blonde hair in pigtails standing behind a fence, touching noses with a black Highland cow with long horns.

A Place That Grew With Us.

The Highlands brought something we did not expect. Personality. Presence. A calm, grounding energy that quickly became central to this place.

Over time, it became clear the cattle deserved a space of their own. A place to share their stories, offer hands-on experiences, and thoughtfully grow our herd. Lumen Cattle Co was born from that realization.

Everything we do here is guided by patience, respect for the breed, and a belief that good things take time. From how our cattle are raised to how we welcome people onto the land, intention comes first.

This has always been a labor of love - shaped by the land, the animals, and the people who care for them. We are proud of how far this place has come and grateful for the opportunity to share it.

We cannot wait to bring you along for this next chapter.

A Highland cow with a long, shaggy, light brown coat grazing on grass in a fenced pasture, with a black Highland cow standing nearby against a backdrop of green trees and a sunny sky.
